The Indian Air Force (IAF) expects to receive all Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) Tejas in the Final Operational Clearance (FOC) variant by 2022, while the LCA MK1A, with specific enhancements, will fly by the middle of this year. "By June this year, we should start flying the LCA MK1A configuration, says HAL. In February, the Defence Ministry signed a Rs 48,000 crore deal with HAL to provide 83 LCA MK1A to the Indian Air Force. The LCA MK2 has improved range and endurance and is the first-ever integration of the Onboard Oxygen Generation System (OBOGS). On the MK2, heavy standoff weaponry will be included. The MK2 will be a much heavier and more capable aircraft than the present LCA models, with a length of 1350 mm, canards, and a payload of 6,500 kg versus 3,500 kg for the LCA.
